Abstract
Light Wire is non-custodial infrastructure for Solana swap quotes, Token-2022 hook inspection, and a public TypeScript SDK. It does not operate an exchange, does not hold user keys, and does not claim that a quote is a completed trade.
This paper describes the desk as it is built. It is not a security audit, and it does not promise a launch date.
02
Problem
A swap screen can hide the difference between an estimate and a fill. A token screen can hide the difference between a ticker and a mint. A hook, when one exists, is a program the token program calls, and that fact is easy to skip.
Light Wire keeps those words apart. Amounts travel as base-unit strings so a JavaScript number never rounds a balance. Mints are addresses. Symbols sit beside them and do not replace them.
03
Design
The site, the API, and the SDK are separate. The site is the public desk. The API validates requests and returns a shared error envelope. The SDK, @gundrink/light-wire, calls that API and throws a typed error. It does not import the website.
Wallet signing stays on the client. The server can return an unsigned transaction later. It does not sign, and it does not ask for a seed phrase.
04
A swap, when a quote exists
A request names the cluster, the input mint, the output mint, the amount, and the slippage. The same mint on both sides is rejected. A non-address is rejected. An amount has to be a positive integer string that fits in a u64.
Until a routing provider is attached, the quote route fails closed. It does not invent an output amount. When a quote does exist, it carries an estimate, a minimum after slippage, a network-fee estimate, and any platform fee. Fee collection is off in the current policy.
After a signature is submitted, status becomes confirmed, failed, expired, or unknown only from the cluster's answer.
05
Inspection
Inspection reads an account on the cluster you select. It reports whether the account exists, which program owns it, and, for a mint, whether a Transfer Hook is absent or configured. Recent signatures are cluster records, not completed Light Wire swaps.
If the RPC for that cluster is not configured, or does not answer, the inspector says so. It does not guess account data. A name or image attached to a mint is a label from a public record. It is not a review of the program.
06
Networks
Devnet is the working network. Mainnet writes stay off. Better features are on the way. The lock is a constant in code, not an environment switch a visitor can flip.
Devnet and Mainnet stay separate in configuration and in the interface. Choosing one cluster does not silently reuse the other cluster's read.
07
Out of scope
Light Wire does not run an automated market maker, does not guarantee the best route on Solana, and does not attach a hook to a mint it does not control. It does not offer one-click Mainnet deployment of arbitrary programs.
Cross-chain bridging, lending, and perpetuals are not part of this desk.
